Sunday night Serena Williams looked admirable in her actualization at Sir Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party – but who knew that a austere bloom alarm was apprehension her the actual abutting day. On Monday Serena was spotted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

“Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation,” Williams’s rep, Nicole Chabot, said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE.

Nicole went on to say in the PEOPLE article “Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A. She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot.”

She apparently had been spotted several times at the hospital over the last week, according to Jennifer Garcia from PEOPLE.

The rep added, “Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications.”

After getting her cast off recently, fans were getting excited to see her start training again. Unfortunately her anticipated return will be postponed again for good reason. Apparently her foot injury was a lot more serious than originally thought. We wish her a very speedy recovery.
